Thursday, Mar 18, 2010

Broadcast Facilities, Inc. (BFI), a media services company, received World Teleport Association's Independent Teleport Operator of the Year. The award is presented to organizations that have demonstrated excellence in Teleport operations, development and technology. BFI was recognized for its achievements at the 2010 Teleport Awards for Excellence Ceremony and Luncheon on March 16 during SATELLITE 2010 in Maryland.

"WTA congratulates Broadcast Facilities, Inc. on becoming the 2010 Independent Teleport Operator of the Year," said WTA Executive Director Robert Bell. "In 2006 Crawford Communications, now part of BFI, was honored with this same award. Being part of an award-winning team for a second time is a testament to the company's dedication to customer support, leading-edge services and determination to remain a leader in the teleport industry."

WTA and its award committee selected BFI based on the outstanding operation of the company's broadcast hubs in Atlanta (Crawford Communications) and Los Angeles (Andrita Media Center). The combined success of these facilities has positioned BFI as a premier Teleport for clients around the world.

"BFI is honored to be the recipient of this prestigious award," said President and COO of BFI Bill Tillson. "To be named by our peers as Independent Teleport Operator of the Year truly reflects our commitment to our clients as well as the hard work of our colleagues."

Throughout the year, BFI excelled in overall business and service areas which included a new centralcasting offering for a major television station group; the launch of more than 40 TV channels resulting in BFI originating or retransmitting over 250 networks; and material growth in BFI's digital media services. The company also performed upgrades to its transportables fleet, expanded its Teleport capabilities and added several fiber POPs: NASCAR Media Group (Charlotte, NC); Studio-on-Main (Columbia, SC); and Pacific Television Center (Los Angeles, CA). BFI also landed high-profile, anchor clients for its in-house studio/production services. The company's LA stages are now home to ABC's award-winning, daytime drama "All My Children" and Game Show Network.

Government SATCOM continued to be a huge focus for BFI through its DVIDS (Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System) project that provides a reliable connection between global media and the U.S. military. The joint operation between BFI and the military supported more than 700 public affairs teams from all branches of the Armed Services fulfilling over 80,000 media requests worldwide just last year.

BFI was among a class of winners in four additional categories presented by WTA including Corporate Teleport Operator of the Year, Teleport Executive of the Year, Teleport Technology of the Year and Green Teleport of the Year.
